1) Electricity Distribution Licence
As a Local Distribution Company, NT Power is regulated by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), a crown corporation that is responsible for overseeing the province’s electricity and natural gas sectors and all of its participants. NT Power requires a licence from the OEB. A licence provides energy companies with permission to operate in Ontario, and outlines the laws, rules amnd regulatory requirements they must follow.
NT Power’s rate applications must be approved through a complex hearing process by the OEB. The OEB is also responsible for setting the prices for Regulated Price Plan electricity rates and approves the rates charged for distribution/delivery and transmission.
