Alert
Unfortunately, we are not able to proceed with your registration if you do not have the power to enter your company into a legally binding agreement with NT Power.
We are happy to share that we have completed the work to upgrade the electricity infrastructure in the area and would like to notify you in advance that we will be working in your area to remove the overhead infrastructure that is no longer in use.
Our work is expected to commence on February 5th and is anticipated to be completed on February 9th, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, weather permitting.
The work site location will encompass the north side of the area as shown on the map above. Work will be carried out using the roadway with a partial lane closure, and staff will be available to assist drivers as required. We would encourage you to avoid that area while crews are on site but vehicle movement in/out of the parking areas will not be obstructed. Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated as we work together to enhance historic downtown Newmarket.
NT Power is committed to delivering safe and reliable electricity to our customers. As part of our commitment to maintain reliable electricity, we have ongoing maintenance and capital project plans to replace infrastructure that is coming near the end of its useful life.
The infrastructure relocation project on Cedar St. has been ongoing for some time, and the current phase involves the removal of overhead lines, and installation of new underground lines. High voltage equipment in the area will also be replaced, old equipment removed, and equipment installed at customer buildings. Some civil work will be involved including minor excavations and a temporary power supply.
This work is important and will help decrease power outages caused by inclement weather such as ice storms, freezing rain, and snow events while continuing to revitalize Newmarket’s award-winning Main Street. The installation of heritage lights will occur later in 2024 and is not part of this work phase.
The Town of Newmarket and NT Power are working together to ensure minimal disruption to businesses, residents, and visitors to downtown Newmarket. Please see below for more information about the work schedule, closures, and a map of the work area.
Residents and businesses at 185-195 and 201-226 Main Street South are asked to avoid parking in the private parking areas (highlighted in the map attached) if possible, during the week of January 15-19 and January 22-26 to accommodate electrical work in the area.
NT Power anticipates the need to occasionally enter the parking lot to facilitate the construction work at the buildings associated with this project, and access will strictly be limited to NT Power staff and approved contractors. While construction vehicles may temporarily occupy parking space to complete work, vehicle movement in/out of the parking areas will not be obstructed. Overnight parking will be made available in the Riverwalk Commons parking lot should for your convenience.
Residents and businesses, if you are expecting any special deliveries or need any accommodation during this time, please contact NT Power as soon as possible and we will work with you to ensure minimal disruption. Waste pick-up will be managed by NT Power. If you have questions, please call us at 905-895-2309 x 2.
